Summer Long Pose Figure Painting - Darren Kingsley

Join us this summer for an immersive long pose figure painting class at ReAL, the Realist Art League.
Working from the live model through two separate 6-day poses over the course of 6 weeks, students will have the opportunity to develop figure paintings with Darren Kingsley.
Meeting Mondays and Thursdays, the course emphasizes building the figure as a connected, living whole through strong gesture, proportion, anatomy, structure, value, and color relationships. Students will begin with broad, simplified passes focused on movement, balance, and major forms before gradually refining the painting through increasingly focused stages of development.
Instruction will cover drawing in paint, value organization, limited palette color mixing, edge control, and the construction of form through light and shadow. As the pose progresses over multiple days, students will learn how to move from a unified impression of the figure toward a more resolved and finished painting while maintaining clarity, simplicity, and cohesion throughout the process.
Demonstrations and individualized critiques will be provided throughout each stage of the painting.
Still Life with Darren Kingsley

The Still Life Painting Class is designed for students interested in developing their observational painting skills through a focused study of color, form, composition, and light. Working primarily from natural light, students will learn to create life-sized, representational paintings that capture the subtleties of their subject matter.
Open to all levels, Darren provides individualized instruction, guiding students through each stage of the painting process.

Join us for an engaging figure painting class in oil at ReAL Realist Art League.
Work from the live model with extended poses for a comprehensive exploration of light, shadow, anatomy, color and finishing techniques. Darren and Steve will demonstrate techniques and provide personalized critiques.
Figure Painting Open Studio
Saturdays 9am - 4pm (Starting April 18th)
Sundays 9am - 4pm

Step into a focused, inspiring, and judgment-free environment on Sundays with our full-day Open Studio session, featuring a 6-hour pose with a live model. Most times these poses are 2 days extended poses. 12 hours in total where you can really stretch out to study the figure and create.
This immersive experience allows you to paint or draw directly from life, honing your skills in portraying the human figure. Bring your own materials, and we’ll provide easels and tables, ensuring you have everything you need to focus on your art. Work alongside the dedicated artists of the Realist Art League, sharing in the camaraderie and passion for realism that defines our studio.
