6-day class meeting on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-4pm beginning August 3rd.
This class is intended for any level artist who wants to learn more about representing the figure in oil-paint, developing a consistent process for constructing a figure through observational realistic techniques, and how to employ a limited pallet to broaden their understanding of color.
This introductory class will discuss paint and material handling in classical techniques. Demonstrate the grisaille process through a limited palette and explain the effects of warm and cool colors, influence of light, and the effective ways to use variation in the thickness of paint to describe form.
Participants will learn the methods and principles required to portray the human subject accurately, meaningfully and artistically. Combining live model lessons, one on one support, and independent work. This class is intended to assist in establishing confidence in technical skills, having better insight into the subtleties of a limited pallet, and a deeper understanding of the construction of a figure in paint.
